CBSE conducts the examination, evaluates answer-scripts and then prepares a merit / waiting list of candidates. These lists are forwarded to the Director General of Health Services who allocates the seats, as per the candidate's rank, in the presence of the candidate or authorised representatives. In the event of a tie between two or more candidates, they are given preference for merit in the following order: (a) the candidate who obtained higher marks in Biology, Chemistry or Physics in the entrance examination, or (b) the candidate older in age. The process of admission is completed by September, the remaining seats are then deemed to have been surrendered back to the college / State.
This exam is very important for every PMT aspirant, but is a tough exam by the standard of Multiple Choice Questions as compared to the Delhi PMT examination and also by the number of candidates appearing for it. If one is specifically preparing for this exam, then he/she must consult some graduate level books apart from the NCERT and CBSE text books. How does this help? If selected, you may get a medical college in any part of India depending upon your rank. So you must try to get a ranking which is required to get the medical college near your home or at least in your state. Your selection is ensured if your score exceeds 65%.
